MILWAUKEE, WI – Six van passengers sustained unspecified wounds, and one van occupant died after a driver crashed into the vehicle before fleeing the scene Friday.
WISN said that prior to this collision, the suspect was driving away from officers after police tried to pull them over at 27th and Hadley streets on account of having an alleged stolen license plate.
As the driver kept fleeing, they eventually struck the van and collided with another car and a house in the vicinity of North 27th Street and West Locust Street. Immediately after this crash, the suspect tried to flee once more, this time on foot, but was apprehended.
Police did not specify any changes against the driver, nor did they disclose the name of the victim who passed away. However, it was the victim’s family who came forward and identified the man as 41-year-old Damond Harris.
