WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Authorities have confirmed that the two people who died after a chase and rollover crash Thursday morning in Delafield were 10-year-old boys, reports TMJ4.
The fatal accident unfolded in the area of Greywood Lane and Golf Road, some time before 12:00 a.m.
Deputies with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office said they were near Prospect Avenue and Interstate 94 when they tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding and not having a license plate. When the driver declined to stop, the deputies pursued the vehicle as it fled west on Golf Road.
According to officials, the fleeing vehicle was traveling at such a high rate of speed that they were far ahead of the deputies. The vehicle, which was carrying six occupants, was said to have been out of their sight when it overturned and crashed.
First responders pronounced two 10-year-old boys deceased at the scene.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, as well as a 29-year-old female passenger, were both transported to an area hospital in critical and stable conditions, respectively.
A 6-year-old girl was flown via Flight For Life to Children’s Hospital and a 14-year-old girl was also taken to the hospital via ambulance. No information about their conditions has been shared.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol continue to investigate the crash, but officials have said that an early review indicates no violation of police procedures or policies.
