RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 36-year-old man has been arrested following an August hit-and-run in Mount Pleasant that ultimately claimed a teenager’s life, reports WISN.
The incident occurred in the area of Wisconsin State Highway 31 (South Green Bay Road) and South Newman Road on August 20, shortly before 9:23 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate that a 14-year-old Racine boy was hit by a minivan traveling northbound on WIS-31. The driver then continued away from the scene without stopping.
South Shore Fire Department crews administered life-saving measures at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital. He was then flown to another hospital where he died from his injuries on August 21, the next day.
While Mount Pleasant Police were able to find and seize the striking vehicle, the suspect driver remained at large for months.
On Monday, November 20, 2023, WISN reported that the Mount Pleasant Police Department has identified and arrested the suspect, 36-year-old Nicholas Ziccarelli. He was booked into Racine County Jail and charged with hit-and-run causing death.
