MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities have located a vehicle believed to be linked to a hit-and-run crash Saturday, September 23, that claimed the life of a 48-year-old pedestrian in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley area, reports TMJ4.
The fatal incident occurred in the area of West Canal Street and North 25th Street, near Potawatomi Casino Hotel, at about 1:45 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 48-year-old local woman, identified as Heidi K. Schneider, was crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle that then fled the scene. Schneider, who suffered significant trauma in the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders.
Milwaukee Police Department officials initially described the fleeing vehicle as an “unknown 2018-2020 white SUV,” likely a Kia Sportage, but later identified it as a black 2022 Dodge Durango with Wisconsin license plate number 20327AFT with front-passenger side fender and hood damage.
On Friday, September 29, shortly after 9:00 p.m., TMJ4 reported that Milwaukee Police have recovered and towed the suspect vehicle for processing.
The hit-and-run suspect and other occupants who were in the vehicle at the time and who were said to be considered armed and dangerous, have not been located.
No further updates on the investigation have been released at this time.
