MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Police arrested two people who they believed were responsible for fatally striking a four-year-old girl, CBS 58 revealed.

Prior to the arrests made on Tuesday night, police tried to pull over a driver (which happened in the area of 83rd and Carmen) operating the suspected vehicle responsible for hitting the four-year-old girl that resulted in her death and striking her mother, a woman who suffered broken bones at West Vera Avenue and North Teutonia Avenue Tuesday morning.

The driver, who was only identified as a 21-year-old woman and not by name, refused to stop, thus initiating the police chase. The pursuit was terminated when she rammed into a planter in the vicinity of North 72nd Street & West North Avenue. The other suspect with her, a 30-year-old man (whose name was also not released), tried to flee but was caught.

Police arrested both individuals after taking them to local hospitals for medical evaluations.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office will be the one to determine the suspects’ charges.
