MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities continue to seek the driver and vehicle responsible for a crash early Saturday near Potawatomi Casino Hotel that claimed the life of a 48-year-old pedestrian, reports TMJ4.
Milwaukee Police Department officials said in a recent statement that the incident occurred in the area of West Canal Street and the North 25th Street roundabout, at around 1:45 a.m.
An early investigation shows a woman was crossing the street on foot when she was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle. New details released by the department indicate that vehicle to be “an unknown 2018-2020 white SUV, possibly be a Kia Sportage.” Authorities said the vehicle then fled the area without stopping to render aid or call 911, leaving the woman with “extensive trauma.”
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office has since identified her as Heidi K. Schneider, a Milwaukee resident.
