MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 9-year-old boy who was hit and seriously hurt by a vehicle while riding a bike Sunday in West Allis has been discharged from the hospital, reports WISN.
The incident occurred in the area of South 84th Street and West National Avenue, prompting a response from West Allis Police and Fire Department crews shortly after 2:20 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate the boy was riding a bike with his two brothers nearby. While traveling across a marked crosswalk, he was hit by a pickup truck. A witness who rushed to the boy’s aid said the impact caused the victim to bleed from his head.
The driver, 73, was administered a field sobriety test at the scene and was arrested. Authorities said the case is being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney, who is expected to issue charges pending toxicology results.
The child was transported to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. On Thursday, October 5, WISN relayed a report from the victim’s father that the boy had been released from the hospital to continue recovering at home.
