MILWAUKEE, WI — A 16-year-old boy has been charged after a police chase last Sunday in northwest Milwaukee ended in a crash that killed another teen and injured nine others, reports TMJ4.
Authorities said the fatal wreck took place at North 68th Street and West Silver Spring Drive on August 13.
Milwaukee Police said the teen had fled a traffic stop and was driving a stolen vehicle recklessly and at a high rate of speed as officers in squad cars pursued the vehicle. After running multiple red lights, the stolen vehicle struck an uninvolved car while traveling at around 93 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.
Authorities said a 17-year-old boy who was a passenger in the suspect vehicle was killed. Seven of the vehicle’s other occupants, including a 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, two 17-year-old boys, and a 18-year-old woman who was partially ejected, suffered a range of injuries.
Two women in the other vehicle, ages 25 and 42, were also injured.
The suspect, who did not have a driver’s license (and had been previously suspended for driving without a license), faces multiple charges that include “first degree reckless homicide,” one count of “vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in the death of another,” and three counts of “vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in great bodily harm.”
