MILWAUKEE, WI — A 30-year-old man has been taken into custody following a hit-and-run crash Sunday afternoon in northwest Milwaukee that left an 11-year-old boy in critical condition, reports TMJ4.
Milwaukee Police said the boy was riding a bike across West Fond Du Lac Avenue near West Melvina Street at about 3:15 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate that while in the roadway, the child and bicycle were struck by an eastbound vehicle that continued away from the scene without stopping.
The victim was rushed by Milwaukee Fire crews to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
On Tuesday, August 29, the MPD confirmed that the suspect had been arrested in connection to the hit-and-run. The department’s statement also indicated that the striking vehicle was also recovered, and that the District Attorney’s Office is set to review criminal charges.
No updates on the victim’s condition have been disclosed as of this writing.
