MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities are searching for a driver who crashed into a northwest Milwaukee building early Wednesday and claimed the lives of two female passengers, reports WISN.
According to Milwaukee Police, officers had attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle that was observed running a red light on South Cesar E. Chavez Drive and West Greenfield Avenue. A pursuit was prompted as the driver sped away from officers.
At one point, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to strike a building near the corner of North 23rd Street and West Hopkins Street at around 1:00 a.m.
Responding firefighters administered life-saving measures at the scene, but two women in the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after. The victims have been identified as 28-year-old Kyra Johnson and 20-year-old Haley Fehrenbach.
According to authorities, the driver, who fled the scene on foot, believed to be male, was likely injured in the crash.
