WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A 19-year-old woman has died following a head-on crash on Wisconsin State Highway 16 near the Village of Chenequa, according to WISN.
The wreck occurred on the eastbound lanes west of Wisconsin State Highway 83.
A preliminary investigation by Chenequa Police indicate a 47-year-old female driver entered the eastbound highway while traveling against traffic. As her vehicle continued traveling westbound, it collided head-on with the victim’s vehicle.
Firefighters had to conduct a rescue extrication to remove the 19-year-old woman from the wreckage of her vehicle. She was rushed to a local hospital by a Flight for Life helicopter, but was later pronounced deceased.
The wrong-way driver, who suffered critical injuries, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
No further information has been shared at this time, and no criminal charges have been reported.
