MILWAUKEE, WI — A 23-year-old man lost his life Sunday morning, February 5, after his vehicle crashed into a residence in northwest Milwaukee’s Grasslyn Manor area, according to FOX 6 Milwaukee.

The accident happened in the area of North 60th Street and West Melvina Street some time after 10:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim and another driver were both traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on 60th Street. At one point, the victim approached a vehicle that was traveling northbound on 60th and making a left onto Capitol. The victim swerved to avoid striking the turning vehicle, causing his own vehicle to lose control and slam into a nearby house.

First responders pronounced the driver of the striking vehicle deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.

The other driver, a 44-year-old man, was arrested by Milwaukee Police.

While the force of the crash caused the home’s front door to become misaligned and bricks along the house’s facade to crumble, no one appeared to be home during the accident, and no other major injuries were reported.
