APPLETON, WI — One person was arrested early Sunday after crashing their vehicle into a building in Appleton and fleeing the scene on foot, according to We Are Green Bay.
Appleton Police responded to the scene at Insta Print Plus, located off 534 West Wisconsin Avenue.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a number of officers were conducting routine patrol in the area when they spotted a vehicle coming to a stop inside an intersection.
Authorities said the driver in the vehicle failed to comply to a traffic stop and sped away until the vehicle crashed into the building. The driver was seen fleeing on foot and leaving behind their passenger without checking on them or rendering aid.
Following a brief foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended and taken into custody. The suspect faces multiple charges that include “operating while impaired,” which may have prompted them to flee authorities.
No major injuries have been confirmed.
