News: Man dies after pickup truck collides with semi in the town of Calumet

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI — A two-vehicle crash last Friday morning, February 2, in the town of Calumet claimed the life of a a 53-year-old man and left another person injured, reports NBC26.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal accident unfolded on Kiel Road near Schoenborn Road.

An early investigation indicates the man, a Newton man, was operating a pickup truck westbound when, for reasons still unclear, it traveled past the centerline. Moments later, the pickup struck an eastbound semi-tractor trailer driven by a 62-year-old man from Menasha.

First responders pronounced the driver of the pickup truck deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi, who reportedly suffered more minor injuries, was transported to an area hospital.

An investigation remains open and ongoing, but officials noted that both drivers had seatbelts on at the time of the wreck.
