MILWAUKEE, WI — A 22-year-old man lost his life early Sunday after his car rear-ended another vehicle and struck a building in Milwaukee’s south side, according to WISN.

The fatal incident took place near West Montana Street and South 13th Street, in the city’s Polonia neighborhood, at around 2:00 a.m.

Milwaukee Police said the young man was driving southbound on South 13th Street when his car hit the back of another vehicle. The first impact caused his vehicle to lose control and collide with a nearby building, which then set off a fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment.

Responding crews with the Milwaukee Fire Department extinguished the flames, but the driver of first vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have identified him as Alexander Quintero-Garcia.

First responders transported the driver of the second vehicle, 61, to an area hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
