New: 1 dead after fleeing vehicle crashes into uninvolved car in NW Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, WI — A fleeing driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in northwest Milwaukee that claimed the life of another person, according to TMJ4.

The fatal collision unfolded near North 20th Street and West Burleigh Street, in the city’s North Division area, at around 7:00 p.m.

Milwaukee Police said officers tried to pull over a vehicle for a speeding violation but the driver fled eastbound on West Burleigh Street. Moments later, the vehicle collided with an uninvolved car at the intersection.

First responders pronounced a 30-year-old person who was inside the victim vehicle deceased at the scene, despite life-saving measures. Authorities have not confirmed whether the decedent was the driver or a passenger. No other major injuries were immediately reported.

Responding officers arrested a 40-year-old and recovered a firearm at the scene. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review charges in the case.
