WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A multi-vehicle wreck last Friday, January 5, in Summit claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman and left three other people injured, reports WISN.

The accident happened on Wisconsin State Highway 67 at Genesee Lake Road. It was first reported at about 12:36 p.m.

According to the Summit Police Department, the young woman, of Waukesha, was behind the wheel of a vehicle heading southbound on the highway when she slowed and then came to a stop to make a turn onto eastbound Genesee Lake Road. Moments later, another southbound vehicle rear-ended the turning vehicle, sending it into the northbound lane, where it was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

The young woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was thrown from her vehicle in the impact of the crash. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.

Two occupants of the northbound vehicle, two women aged 56 and 20, were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the driver of the southbound striking vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, was not reported hurt. She and the other surviving parties are cooperating with an ongoing investigation. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the wreck at this time.
