KENOSHA COUNTY, WI — A Kenosha Police Department officer was sent to the hospital Friday after being hit by a vehicle on 63rd Street in Kenosha, according to CBS58.

The accident happened at the intersection with Sheridan Road at about 6:00 a.m.

Due to a power outage caused by an earlier nearby crash, the officer was opening up stop signs at a traffic light pole when they were hit by a vehicle.

Authorities did not specify the extent of the officer’s injuries, but the patient appeared to have been released from the hospital within the same day.

The driver, who stayed behind at the crash site and cooperated with investigators, faces a likely citation.

The intersection was shut down during the emergency response and investigation.
