MILWAUKEE, WI — Two people, including a child, were taken to a hospital Monday morning following a crash involving a school bus in northwest Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.

The accident happened at the intersection of West Fond du Lac Avenue and West Armitage Avenue, in the Capitol Heights area, some time before 8:00 a.m.

Milwaukee Police said the school bus, which was reportedly carrying Milwaukee Academy of Science students, was turning left at the corner when it was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

First responders had to extricate the driver of the vehicle, 31, before transporting the patient to an area hospital for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Injuries sustained on the bus, according to one student, include head pain, neck pain, and a nose bleed. Of those on board, one child was transported to the local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said a second bus arrived on the scene by 9:00 a.m. to shuttle the remaining students to school.
