SHAWANO COUNTY, WI — A single-vehicle crash Tuesday evening off County Highway M near Wittenberg claimed the life of a local resident, reports NBC26.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened just south of Wisconsin State Highway 153, shortly after 7:00 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate that the victim, a 74-year-old man, was driving an unspecified truck when it slid into a ditch. The vehicle appeared to continue running before colliding with a tree.
First responders pronounced the male driver deceased at the scene. Deputies noted that his seat belt was not fastened at the time of the wreck.
No other occupants or vehicles appear to have been involved.
Multiple area agencies, including the Shawano County Coroner’s Office, the Wittenberg Fire Department, and Wittenberg Ambulance, joined the SCSO at the scene. An investigation remains underway.
