DODGE COUNTY, WI — A man was hospitalized last Friday evening, December 15, after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bike near east Columbus, reports TMJ4.
The accident happened on Wisconsin State Highway 16 near Roche Road, in the town of Elba. Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene at about 5:20 p.m.
Preliminary details show that a 28-year-old Columbus woman was driving eastbound on the highway near the fog line. For reasons still being investigated, her vehicle hit the cyclist, a 31-year-old Fond du Lac man.
First responders rushed the cyclist to an area hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. While he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, officials say the victim was also wearing dark clothing and did not have any lighting on.
No injuries to the driver or anyone else were reported.
