MILWAUKEE, WI — A 20-year-old man has been charged following a hit-and-run crash last Thursday in Wauwatosa that killed a woman who was seven to eight weeks pregnant, reports WISN.
The fatal wreck took place at North 100th Street and West Capitol Drive on November 2.
According to Wauwatosa Police, an officer attempted a traffic stop on an SUV without license plates, which was later found to have been reported stolen. When the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, the officer initiated a chase. But when the fleeing driver began to travel more recklessly, the officer reportedly terminated the pursuit.
Shortly after, however, the SUV collided with a Toyota, which was occupied by the victim. The medical examiner’s office has since identified her as 32-year-old Erin Mogensen.
Authorities said a surveillance camera captured the driver of the SUV going over a fence as he fled on foot from the scene. The suspect, Frank Mosley, was later detained inside a home.
Mosley has been charged with “first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree reckless homicide – unborn child, and hit and run resulting in death.” He is currently being held in custody with a cash bond set at $200,000.
