MILWAUKEE, WI — Two people were sent to the hospital Wednesday following a police pursuit and crash in Milwaukee’s north side, according to CBS58.
The wreck took place at the busy intersection of North Teutonia Avenue and West Villard Avenue, in the Old North Milwaukee area.
Milwaukee Police said officers were trying to pull over a vehicle near Townsend and Philip Place that was connected to an armed robbery. The pursuit was initiated when the driver of the suspect vehicle failed to stop. It was terminated when the fleeing vehicle ran a red light and collided with an uninvolved vehicle at Teutonia and Villard. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles into a BP gas station sign.
First responders transported two people from the victim vehicle, both 45, to an area hospital with injuries deemed non-fatal.
It was unclear whether the occupants of the fleeing vehicle were injured, but both the driver, a 33-year-old man, and his passenger, a 36-year-old woman, were both taken into custody.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review criminal charges.
