SHAWANO COUNTY, WI — A 13-year-old boy suffered critical injuries Tuesday afternoon due to an all-terrain vehicle accident in the township of Wittenburg, reports NBC26.
The wreck occurred in the area of Nightingale Road and Oak Road. Shawano County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 4:35 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate the boy was operating the ATV in a nearby field when it overturned and pinned him underneath it.
First responders rushed the victim, who was reported unconscious after the rollover, to Aspirus Wausau Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officials said he was later transferred to a Marshfield hospital where his condition remains undisclosed.
No other occupants were involved and no one is believed to have witnessed the accident, but authorities continue to investigate.
