MILWAUKEE, WI — Two MPD officials, including Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffery Norman, were hurt in a crash Monday in northwest Milwaukee shortly after a press conference about reckless driving, reports TMJ4.
The incident occurred in the area of North 68th Street and West Silver Spring Drive, in the Silver Spring neighborhood, at about 10:00 a.m.
While a sequence of events leading up to the collision has not been shared, preliminary details indicate the chief and a 56-year-old male officer were traveling in the same vehicle at the time.
No information about the driver of the striking vehicle has been made available, but they stayed at the scene and cooperated with an investigation.
The chief, who was seen wearing a neck brace as he was assisted into an ambulance, was transported to a local hospital with the other officer. Both patients received treatment for injuries considered non-life-threatening. The chief was later released from the hospital the same day.
At this time, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
