DODGE COUNTY, WI — Two drivers died Wednesday evening following a head-on crash on Interstate 41 in northeast Dodge County, according to WBAY.
The fatal accident happened on the southbound side of I-41, north of Wisconsin State Highway 67, near Lomira. Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene some time after 6:20 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that an 82-year-old Campbellsport woman was driving a 2011 Subaru SUV northbound in the southbound lanes. At one point, the Subaru collided head-on with an oncoming 2008 Honda minivan driven by a 34-year-old Oshkosh man.
First responders pronounced both drivers deceased at the scene. Officials confirmed that no passengers were involved.
A section of southbound I-41 was shut down at WIS-49 during a multi-agency emergency response and investigation, which continues to be handled by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
