OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI — Two people were hurt, one seriously, due to a two-vehicle wreck late Saturday in the Town of Hortonia, according to WBAY.
The accident happened on a stretch of WIS-15 east of River Road, prompting a response from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office some time after 8:45 p.m.
An early investigation shows a 44-year-old Appleton man was driving eastbound on the highway when his vehicle was hit by another eastbound vehicle operated by a 45-year-old man, also of Appleton.
Authorities said the force of the collision caused the striking vehicle to roll over and catch fire.
While the driver of the victim vehicle is expected to be okay following treatment at the scene, the driver of the vehicle that caught fire had to be taken to a local hospital. The extent of the hospitalized patient’s injuries has not been disclosed, but they were last listed in stable condition.
A section of WIS-15 was closed for about two hours during the response and investigation, which remains ongoing. Alcohol is believed to have contributed to the wreck.
