MARINETTE COUNTY, WI — A 22-year-old man died Saturday morning after his vehicle crashed off Perch Lake Road in the Town of Athelstane, according to NBC26.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal wreck occurred near the intersection with Nelson Road. Deputies received reports about a male inside an overturned vehicle just before 9:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that Robert G. Perry, an Amberg resident, was driving westbound on Perch Lake Road. At one point, he failed to negotiate a corner near Nelson Road, causing the vehicle to run off the roadway.
First responders pronounced Perry deceased at the scene, confirmed officials. He was found to have not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
An investigation remains in progress, but the MCSO said speed is believed to have been a factor.
