MILWAUKEE, WI — A 17-year-old boy was arrested following a crash late Sunday in Milwaukee’s south side that killed one person and left another critically hurt, reports TMJ4.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the fatal wreck occurred on the 500 block of West Lapham Boulevard, just off the Interstate 94 southbound exit ramp.
Preliminary details show the teen was leaving the ramp at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the red traffic light. Moments later, his vehicle collided with a second car, fatally injuring a 54-year-old passenger inside and leaving the driver, also 54, with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the teen attempted to flee the scene but later surrendered himself and was taken into custody.
The driver of the second vehicle was rushed to a local hospital where his condition remains undisclosed.
An investigation remains open and ongoing, and charges are expected to be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
