MILWAUKEE, WI — A single-car crash late Wednesday morning in north Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman, reports TMJ4.
The fatal collision unfolded in the area of East Locust Street and North Richards Street at about 11:30 a.m.
Milwaukee Police said the driver, a 34-year-old man, lost control of his vehicle, which then veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.
A witness said the woman, who was a passenger, was trapped in the wreckage. Officials confirmed she died as a result of her injuries.
The male driver, who was placed under custody, was transported to an area hospital with injuries believed to be serious.
An investigation remains ongoing, but the MPD said speed appears to have contributed to the crash. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review criminal charges in the next few days.
