MILWAUKEE, WI — Multiple people fled the scene of a car crash early Saturday at a wine and spirits shop in the Walker’s Point area of Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.
The incident occurred at Thelma Carol Wine Merchants, located off West Virginia Street, just southwest of a roundabout that the shop’s owners say has presented safety concerns. It was recorded by the shop’s surveillance camera at about 2:00 a.m.
At this time, little information has been released regarding the circumstances of the wreck, but footage shows a car crashing through the windows along the store’s north side, causing wine, furniture, and glass to go airborne.
The video also captured multiple people exiting the striking vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot. Milwaukee Police responded to the scene shortly after, but as of this writing, the department has not disclosed further details, and no arrests have been reported.
According to the business owners, the shop appears to have sustained thousands of dollars in damage, but the building has been deemed stable. With insurance coming in within the week, the store is expected to reopen in a few weeks.
