DODGE COUNTY, WI — Two people died Wednesday morning following a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 151 near Waupun that left two others injured, reports NBC26.
The accident happened on the northbound side of US-151 near Wisconsin State Highway 49, in the town of Chester. Dispatchers began receiving calls at about 2:47 a.m.
According to officials, a 69-year-old Pennsylvania resident was driving a box truck south in the northbound lanes when the truck hit a northbound Kia head-on. The Kia was then hit by a Chevrolet passenger car, which was also traveling northbound.
Authorities confirmed that the Kia’s driver, a 25-year-old man, died from his injuries at the scene. One of his three passengers, a 28-year-old woman, was also pronounced deceased. The two other passengers were rushed by ambulance to area hospitals for unspecified injuries.
The Chevrolet’s three occupants, all of whom suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, were also taken to nearby hospitals.
No further information regarding potential charges has been reported at this time. An investigation remains underway.
