WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Major property damage was reported Friday night, September 1, after a car crashed through a building in downtown Oconomowoc, according to WISN.
The incident took place at Lake Country Dog, a dog day care center located off East Wisconsin Avenue (Wisconsin State Highway 16).
Preliminary details indicate a driver was fleeing from police when the speeding vehicle slammed through one side of the business at about 60 to 70 miles per hour and came to a rest on the opposite side of the building.
The impact caused walls to collapse and left the ground covered in shattered glass, but the business owners said that by sheer chance, only one dog was lodged in the shop that night and that by sheer chance, no person or animal sustained injuries.
Following the crash, the driver attempted to flee on foot but was soon apprehended by authorities. No other information regarding the circumstances of the wreck or pending charges has been released.
