ADAMS COUNTY, WI — A 76-year-old man has died following a crash involving a semi-truck on Wisconsin State Highway 13 in Big Flats that left multiple people hurt, reports We Are Green Bay.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the multi-vehicle crash happened at the intersection with County Highway C on Thursday, August 31, at about 7:00 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to the scene shortly after.

A preliminary investigation shows Zachary Kleinschmidt, a 27-year-old from Fort Atkinson, was driving a semi-truck westbound on County Highway C when he ran a stop sign. As the semi entered the intersection, it collided with two other vehicles.

Kleinschmidt was flown to an area hospital while the two other drivers and a single passenger were transported by ambulance. Authorities have since confirmed that the passenger, Gregory Plecha, 76, of Arkdale, died from complications connected to his injuries.

Potential charges against Kleinschmidt, including “Homicide by Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle,” is being referred to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.

No other information has been made available at this time, as the ACSO continues to investigate.
