MILWAUKEE, WI — Part of westbound Interstate 94 was closed late Tuesday morning in west Milwaukee after a boom truck struck a highway overpass, reports TMJ4.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident on the westbound lanes at the 35th Street bridge, shortly before 11:30 a.m.
While details remain limited, officials indicate that the boom truck, which has an attached raisable arm that allows workers to access higher spaces, collided with the overpass.
All westbound traffic was forced to divert off the highway at the 35th Street exit as crews worked to clear the scene and make repairs.
The full closure remained in place for over 1.5 hours, but by 1:18 p.m., lane one had been reopened. At 1:52 p.m., the MCSO announced the reopening of all impacted lanes.
No major injuries have been confirmed following the incident.
