OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI — A multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning in the Town of Freedom claimed the life of one person and left another person hospitalized, reports NBC26.
Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene at County Highway EE and County Highway S at around 5:46 a.m.
According to an early investigation, one vehicle was heading northbound on CTH EE when they entered the intersection with CTH S without yielding to traffic. Moments after the vehicle traveled into the path of a semi-truck, causing a crash which then caused both vehicles to strike a pickup truck.
The driver of the first car was pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.
First responders had the driver of the pickup truck transported to a local hospital for an evaluation, but no information on the patient’s condition has been shared. The driver of the semi was not reported seriously hurt.
Authorities said the identities of the victims will not be disclosed until all family members have been notified.
The intersection was shut down for an extended time during the emergency response and investigation.
