OZAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 22-year-old man was hospitalized with burn injuries Friday, August 4, after a vehicle fire at the Ozaukee County Fair Demo Derby in Cedarburg, reports WISN.
The incident occurred in the pit of the Demo Derby, in the Ozaukee County Fairgrounds.
According to Cedarburg Police, the young man had just participated in the event, during which his car’s fuel tank sustained damage. Shortly after pulling the vehicle into the pit, the victim kept trying to start it, causing the car to catch on fire.
Bystanders were able to help the victim out of the car and the flames were later extinguished.
Authorities have not released any updates on the condition of the victim, who was rushed to an area hospital.
