MILWAUKEE, WI — A 26-year-old local woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after crashing a stolen vehicle during a police pursuit in southwest Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.
The wreck occurred off the intersection of South Layton Boulevard and West Greenfield Avenue, in the Burnham Park neighborhood, shortly after 1:15 p.m.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers first spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen during an armed robbery hours before, in the 1700 block of South 24th Street. A pursuit was prompted when the driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop. Authorities said the driver later lost control of the stolen vehicle, which slammed into the fence around a playground.
Though no injuries were ultimately reported, the female suspect was transported to a local hospital and then taken into custody.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review criminal charges within the next several days.
