GREEN BAY, WI — One person was displaced from their home Monday afternoon after an SUV slammed into an apartment building on Green Bay’s west side, reports NBC26.
The incident took place in the 1400 block of Western Avenue, near Notre Dame Academy. Members of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department were dispatched to the scene shortly after 12:00 p.m.
Officials have not said what caused the wreck, but crews arrived to find an SUV crashed at least partially inside a first-floor apartment.
No injuries to the driver or their single passenger were reported, and no one was inside the apartment during the event, but all of the building’s residents had to temporarily evacuate so crews could stabilize the building. At least one resident of the impacted unit was forced to find alternate housing.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Technical Rescue Team was called to help reinforce the structure and safeguard against additional building collapse.
