SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI — A man was taken to a hospital Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle crashed off Interstate 43 in Sheboygan, reports TMJ4.
At around 1:20 p.m., crews with Sheboygan Fire Department were dispatched to the 2800 block of South Taylor Drive, as the man’s car had landed in a retention pond on the property of Acuity Insurance.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the accident, but officials said the man was driving northbound on I-43 when the vehicle ran off the roadway.
The male driver was able to self-extricate from the wrecked vehicle before it submerged in the pond, and before crews arrived.
First responders transported the patient to an area hospital for an evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.
Multiple other agencies, including the Sheboygan Police Department, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wisconsin State Patrol joined local firefighters at the scene, where the vehicle was later removed from the pond. Representatives of Acuity also came onto the scene to assist.
The Wisconsin State Patrol stayed on the scene to investigate.
