MILWAUKEE, WI — A 23-year-old man faces charges after a high-speed crash Friday morning, June 30, that killed a teenage girl and injured three others in Milwaukee’s north side, reports TMJ4.
The Milwaukee Police Department said the fatal accident occurred at the corner of North 5th Street and West Keefe Avenue, in the Williamsburg Heights area. Officers responded to the scene at around 5:00 a.m.
According to investigators, the young man had been driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer into a tree.
A 17-year-old girl who was sitting in the vehicle’s back seat was ejected during the crash. She was pronounced deceased on the scene, confirmed officials.
First responders rushed three other female passengers, two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old, to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. No information on the severity of their conditions has been disclosed at this time.
The MPD said the male driver was taken into custody at the scene and is expected to be charged pending a review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
An investigation into the collision remains in progress.
