SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI — A 74-year-old man has been identified as the pedestrian who died Tuesday, July 4, after a hit-and-run crash in the Town of Sheboygan, according to WBAY.

The fatal incident occurred in the 2800 block of Enterprise Drive at around 8:00 a.m. Authorities say Sheboygan County dispatchers had received a call about an unresponsive man lying in a ditch, prompting a response from multiple area agencies.

A preliminary investigation by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office indicates the victim, Jan Richmond, a local resident, was on the shoulder of the road, correctly walking against traffic, when he was hit from the back by a minivan.

First responders pronounced Richmond deceased shortly after arriving at the scene.

The driver, a 37-year-old Sheboygan man who fled the scene following the crash, has since been apprehended, along with the involved vehicle.
