DOOR COUNTY, WI — A 23-year-old man from Sturgeon Bay was fatally injured Sunday evening when his motorcycle was hit by another vehicle on Wisconsin State Highway 57 in Bailey’s Harbor, reports NBC26.
Deputies with the Door County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on WIS-57 at County Highway East at around 5:38 p.m.
Preliminary details show James Schorer, 83, was driving a 2006 Dodge pickup truck northbound on WIS-57 when he tried to make a left turn onto westbound County Highway East. The pickup entered the path of the victim’s 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling southbound on WIS-57.
The rider was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, confirmed officials. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed at this time.
No major injuries to Schorer or his passenger have been reported.
An investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Traffic Reconstruction Unit was underway. As of this writing, no information regarding pending charges has been released.
