WAUSHARA COUNTY, WI — Three people died last Friday afternoon, July 7, after a two-vehicle wreck on Wisconsin State Highway 21 near the town of Warren, reports WBAY.
The fatal collision occurred on a stretch of WIS-21 west of North 30th Drive, shortly before 2:00 p.m.
According to the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office, a westbound SUV appeared to have veered past the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound SUV. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to catch on fire and eventually become completely engulfed in flames.
A witness was able to rescue one occupant from the eastbound SUV but one other victim in that vehicle, and two others in the westbound SUV, were all pronounced deceased at the scene.
The sheriff’s office is withholding the names of the victims as officials work to notify family members.
Multiple area agencies, including “Redgranite police and fire departments, Poy Sippi Fire Department, Wautoma DNR ranger, Waushara County EMS, and the Waushara County Medical Examiner’s Office,” assisted at the scene.
