EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, WI — A semi-truck overturned during a crash Monday afternoon, causing a group of sheep to run loose on U.S. Highway 53 in Eau Claire, reports TMJ4.
The accident occurred on the the northbound lanes of US-53 at the ramp to East Clairemont Avenue, or U.S. Highway 12. Officers with the Eau Claire Police Department and the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, as well as local firefighters, responded to the scene shortly after.
It was unclear what caused the semi to crash, but the trailer was full of sheep. Crews had the northbound offramp closed as the sheep were collected to be transported to a safe location, but the northbound freeway remained open. Motorists trying to access Clairemont Avenue were were urged to find alternate routes, including Business 53/Hastings Way.
At this time, officials have not confirmed any serious injuries in the incident.
