WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI — A 42-year-old man from Cudahy died Friday morning after being hit during a collision on Wisconsin State Highway 60 near Slinger, according to TMJ4.
The fatal incident occurred on the eastbound lanes of WIS-60 at Interstate 41 southbound. It was first reported by TMJ4 shortly after noon.
An early investigation indicates a 66-year-old South Milwaukee man was driving a car southbound on I-41 when he exited and turned left onto eastbound WIS-60, without yielding to traffic. Authorities said the car pulled into the path of a truck driven by a 30-year-old Slinger man, resulting in a crash.
The victim, who was conducting survey work and standing on the intersection’s median, was struck during the two-vehicle crash. Slinger Fire Department officials said a Flight for Life helicopter arrived on the scene just ten minutes after the wreck, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A section of WIS-60 was shut down for nearly 7 hours during the response.
An investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol remains ongoing. No charges have been reported as of this writing.
