MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 24-year-old man died early Tuesday after a police chase led to a collision in southwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.
West Allis Police Department officers who were initially investigating an OWI spotted a vehicle speeding past them in the area of 57th and Lincoln at about 12:45 a.m.
Preliminary details indicate that a pursuit was prompted when the speeding driver failed to stop and sped away. At one point, the fleeing vehicle ran a red light at South 43rd Street and West Oklahoma Avenue and was hit by another car. The impact of that crash caused the suspect to lose control of their car, which collided with a parked vehicle and a tree.
According to the WAPD, the fleeing driver died from his injuries at the scene. No one else was reported injured in the event.
An investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department was underway.
