WAUSHARA COUNTY, WI — A man died Saturday afternoon after a fiery collision near south Hancock, according to WBAY.
The accident happened off of 4th Avenue and was first reported shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on 4th Avenue when it crashed off the roadway and caught fire near a group of trees. Responding firefighters were able to extinguish the flames but found the man, the vehicle’s sole occupant, fatally injured.
The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly identified the victim as officials work to notify his family.
Multiple area agencies joined the WCSO at the scene, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, Coloma fire crews, Waushara County EMS personnel, as well as officials with the Waushara County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
