SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI — At least one person was reported hurt Monday morning after a police pursuit and crash on Wisconsin State Highway 28 near Sheboygan Falls, according to FOX 6 Milwaukee.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office said the collision occurred at the intersection with County Road U/M.
Preliminary details indicate the events unfolded in the Village of Waldo, where a deputy first spotted a vehicle speeding on WIS-57 near County Road V. The deputy attempted to pull over the vehicle when it turned eastbound onto WIS-28, but its driver failed to stop and sped away at high speeds. At one point, after about 1.5 miles, the fleeing vehicle veered off the roadway at the intersection with County Road U/M, resulting in a crash and minor injuries.
It was unclear how many occupants were injured, but the driver was taken into custody for “eluding, recklessly endangering safety, and absolute sobriety (someone under 21 years of age who has been consuming intoxicants).” He also received citations for “speeding, failure to maintain control, and underage person transporting intoxicants (alcohol).” His two passengers also received citations for underage drinking.
