MILWAUKEE, WI — Two people were taken into custody early Friday after a police chase led to an injury crash in northwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.
The Milwaukee Police Department said the events unfolded near West Fond du Lac Avenue and North 40th Street, in the Roosevelt Grove area, at about 2:16 a.m.
Preliminary details indicate officers observed a suspect they believed to be linked to an earlier shooting and began pursuing the suspect’s vehicle. Authorities have not confirmed the suspect’s connection to the earlier incident, but officers continued following the suspect until the latter ran a red light and collided with another vehicle at a nearby intersection.
The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 28-year-old man from Menomonee Falls, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended and taken into custody. His passenger, a 38-year-old Milwaukee man, was also arrested.
A 43-year-old Milwaukee woman who was in the victim vehicle suffered unspecified injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital. It was unclear whether the suspects were hurt.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review criminal charges in the case.
